You wait for one bus and then the road is full of them
So normally while I'm waiting for the next client project that takes my fancy (I don't work on any old project, it has to be interesting), I get some time on the latest side project.
This month the Bike Buddies project has been put on hold for a short time to work on a new SaaS side project called "Build, Measure, Learn".
Every project I have worked on could do with some sort of metrics which the client can use to validate their ideas or find some new niche. Google Analytics (and others which follow the same vein) are just too complicated for the average client, they just want simple metrics.
Build, Measure, Learn
So the idea is that this project will allow users to create their own specific bespoke metrics such as the number of new sign-ups, the latest order value, etc. Then their platform (whether it's a mobile app, a web-based solution or even a native OS app) can call back to BML to update the metric as and when needed.
The BML dashboard will show these metrics both in real-time and show the individual events over time.
Build in public
All new projects will be built in public and to do that we need these valuable metrics to show how changes to the project affect sign-ups and MRR (monthly recurring revenue), it's a really fascinating insight into how SaaS projects develop over time.
Back to BML
And so while developing BML it will also use itself to measure metrics (Inception...) for BML so we can see over time how it builds up into a viable SaaS platform itself.
You mentioned buses?
Ah yes. So suddenly I have had a few client requests (both new and existing clients) so while I would love to spend all the time I have on BML, I do need to pay the bills and get some client work out of the door...
